LEADING SHARES fell as a batch of corporate results left the market cold. The FTSE-100 share index closed 37.7 points or 0.6 per cent lower at 6,250.6. British Telecom was the biggest individual strain. The shares shed 3.7 per cent, wiping some 13 points off the leading index. In the sector, Vodafone AirTouch took another seven points off, while BP Amoco and Shell were also lower as crude prices drifted after recent weakness.
