Around the World's Markets: London
SHARES ENDED slightly higher after a moribund session which dealers blamed on a lack of fresh trading incentives. The FTSE 100 gained a meagre 5.4 points to 6,126.4 having meandered within a 50-point range for much of the day.
Telecoms and oils pulled the index up, with BT, BP Amoco, Vodafone AirTouch and Shell Transport and Trading yielding 20 points. BT was rebounding after weak sessions and BP Amoco was on the rise ahead of results today.
