Around the World's Markets: London
A 5 PER cent rise for shares in Vodafone AirTouch helped a weaker market to finish well above the day's lows yesterday.
At the end of a see-saw session the FTSE 100 was 22 points or 0.36 per cent lower at 6,169, after swinging in a range of more than 100 points. Vodafone, the market's second biggest stock, rose 60p to pounds 12.53, adding some 18 points to the FTSE as the market warmed to the prospects of a possible deal with Bell Atlantic.
