LEADING SHARES reached a new high yesterday, boosted by a strong opening on Wall Street and domestic bid rumours.
The FTSE 100 finished 28.6 higher at a new all-time closing high of 6,620.6. The new record - set two months after the blue-chip index's previous peak - was driven by a strong showing on Wall Street. Dealers said the Dow's opening rally after the long holiday weekend helped the London index to erase earlier losses.
