RUSSIAN SHARES closed up for the first time in 10 sessions with top shares posting gains of up to 10 per cent. The benchmark RTS1-Interfax index added 5.25 per cent to close at 80.14, the first rise in nearly two weeks, and the broader Reuters composite index jumped 11.15 per cent to 338.59.
Despite the uptick, trade remained subdued with only $7.25m in turnover.
Traders said it was not yet certain the downward trend had been broken.
