US STOCKS bucked the volatility in the Internet sector yesterday to mount a rally after four consecutive days of falls.
By midday the Dow Jones index was up 75 points at 10,606. Analysts said that with little news to guide the market, stocks that had been heavily sold were finding favour as analysts revised their ratings. "The overriding factor was a sense among many investors that the market was a bit oversold," said George Rodriguez, senior vice-president at Guzman & Co.
