US STOCKS closed one of their best weeks of the year, recouping all of last week's losses and then some. Software shares led the gains, after Adobe Systems reported a surge in earnings.

"Investors are confident that the economy is growing, yet interest rates aren't going to surge," said one analyst. The Nasdaq climbed 19.25, or 0.8 per cent, to 2,563.40, finishing the week with a 4.7 per cent gain. The Dow Jones rose 13.93, or 0.1 per cent, to 10,855.56.
