STOCKS POWERED ahead to yet more record highs, with the Dow Jones closing up 23.43 at 11,209.84, as Wall Street toasted good corporate earnings.

The NYSE Composite also set a new high at 2.37 at 663.12.

The average share closed up $0.17, and advances led declines 1,451 to 1,446. Among the active stocks, Microsoft jumped over 5 per cent, taking its market cap above $500bn, on a report that the software giant is close to creating a stock to track its Microsoft Network business.
