STOCKS FELL on concern that the Federal Reserve may have to raise rates more than once in coming months, perhaps up to four times in a year. Three stocks fell for every one that rose on the New York exchange, the broadest decline since May. "This correction may be only half over," one said.
The Dow fell 52.55 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 10,655.15, clawing back a 159-point loss. The S&P 500 fell for the eighth time in nine sessions, losing 16.38 to 1,281.42. The Nasdaq declined 28.94 points, 1.2 per cent, to 2,490.04.
