STOCKS ROSE for a second day, led by Hewlett-Packard, as investors speculated the company will report profits ahead of analysts forecasts. The indices flipped between gains and losses, and trading was the second slowest of the year. Investors were concerned that a key economic report today will show inflation picking up.
The Dow rose 73.14 points, 0.7 per cent, to 11,046.79. The Nasdaq gained 7.46 points, 0.3 per cent, to 2,645.27.
