US STOCKS rallied, led by computer-related companies, after Hewlett- Packard sold shares in its measurement instruments unit for the first time and reported sales that beat some analysts' estimates.
The Dow average climbed 152.61, or 1.4 per cent, to 11,035.70, with Hewlett- Packard accounting for more than half the advance. The average last closed above 11,000 on 13 September. The Nasdaq index climbed 77.72 to its 12th record close of 3,347.11.
