THE DOW Jones fell, led by Coca-Cola, as Douglas Ivester, chairman and chief executive, said he would retire in April next year. He is to be replaced by Douglas Daft, 56, an Australian and 30-year company veteran who has mostly run Coca-Cola's Asian business.

The Dow lost 61.17 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 11,225.01. The hi-tech Nasdaq Composite index rose by 25.37 points, or 0.7 per cent, to set a third straight record of 3,546.
