THE MARKET was mixed at midday as the technology sector succumbed to more profit taking after a strong morning rally. The Dow Jones average was up 25 points, 0.23 per cent, at 11,094 after rising to 11,204.21 earlier. The Nasdaq was down 48 points, 1.34 per cent, at 3,537 after setting a new intra-day record of 3,647.55.

"There's a huge amount of profits to be taken," said Bill Meehan, chief market analyst at Cantor Fitzgerald.
