WALL STREET ended lower as a weak dollar offset enthusiasm over inflation data that appeared to cut the chance of another interest-rate rise next month.
The Dow closed down 109 at 10,801 after rallying more than 103 points early in the day on news that US consumer prices rose only slightly in August. Analysts said the late-session also bore marks of volatility associated with Friday's quarterly expiry of options and futures know as "triple witching'.
