THE PARIS CAC-40 ended at its 34th record close for 1999 yesterday, boosted by France Telecom and other blue-chip stocks such as TotalFina and Carrefour. The lead index closed up 0.52 per cent at 5,564.47 points, with gainers outpacing losers 20 to 19 with one stock unchanged.
The benchmark index set an intraday record of 5,587.67 after the release of mixed US data, before retreating somewhat as stronger-than-expected US sales weighed on sentiment.
