FRENCH STOCKS rocketed to new closing and all-time highs, hitting the key 5,250 level with techs and telecoms still proving a strong draw as investors rush to take positions ahead of the last monthly settlement before Christmas.

The CAC-40 closed up 1.32 per cent at 5,246.33. The intrasession peak and new high was 5,254.91. Chartists said 5,385 was the next barrier, with no consolidation expected unless the index tips below 5,145. STMicroelectronics led the charge, closing up 9.05 per cent.
