JAPANESE STOCKS surged yesterday, as data on Friday showing inflation was no problem for US producers in July spurred strong gains in New York that carried over in Tokyo.
High-technology stocks in particular gained ground, helped by a 3.46 per cent rally in the technology-laden Nasdaq composite index on Friday, traders said. The benchmark Nikkei 225 finished up 2.24 per cent at 17,826.03, extending last week's five-session winning streak.
