SHARES ROSE moderately after Friday's jump on Wall Street and the stable yen mitigated fears over possible risks in Japanese stocks.
The Nikkei 225 finished up 126.52 points, 0.72 per cent, at 17,756.51. A record rally in US technology stocks on Friday also turned investor attention to hi-tech stocks in Tokyo. "Stocks and bonds in New York soared, but we are sceptical they will keep on rising at this pace," said one strategist. "Japan's hi-techs have already risen substantially and the upside looks really limited."
