JAPANESE SHARES ended 0.4 per cent lower on Friday as investors sold off issues linked to domestic demand. The Nikkei 225 closed down 68.73 points at 18,258.55.
Steel and chemical issues and other sectors geared toward the domestic market fell. Traders said interest in high-technology issues remained strong.
"Everyone is changing to the same sexy Internet issues," said one equity trader. "Most of the domestic sectors continue to implode."
