Sam Jonah, managing director of Ashanti Goldfields, in which Lonrho has a 43 per cent stake. Its shares closed at dollars 20.75 on its first day of trading, a small premium to its dollars 20 flotation price. The issue was priced at the top end of the expected dollars 17 to dollars 20 range, valuing the company at dollars 1.67bn.
