Traffic at BAA airports in April was up 4.8 per cent on the level a year ago at 6.5 million passengers.

The biggest increase was at Stansted, where passengers were up by 21 per cent. Heathrow's traffic was up by 5.2 per cent and Gatwick's by 0.4 per cent.
