The Dublin banana importer Fyffes has bought a 33 per cent stake in Sofiprim, a French fresh produce trader that operates from Rungis fruit and vegetable market in Paris - the largest market of its type in Europe. Analysts estimate the price was about IR pounds 5m. Geest, Fyffes' banana rival, has paid pounds 6.5m to Hazelwood Foods for a coleslaw-making plant in Waltham Abbey, Essex.
