BCH GROUP, the vehicle management group, reported a 30 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to pounds 1.93m in the half to 30 June. The chairman, Tony Mitchard, said the group's vehicle fleet increased from 14,422 vehicles to 15,234.

The expanded retail site in Bristol, which opened on 2 March, achieved operating profits of pounds 225,000, said Mr Mitchard. The shares closed down 5p at 185.5p.
