BLUE CIRCLE Industries has confirmed it intends to dispose of its bathroom and ceramics businesses, which could be worth up to pounds 250m.
Analysts warned jobs could be at risk at its Armitage Shanks bathrooms division, which employs 2,250 workers based around Stoke-on-Trent. More jobs could go in Siena, Italy, where the group's ceramics subsidiary, Ceramica Dolomite, employs 1,000 workers.
Names mentioned as potential candidates for a deal include Ideal Standard of the US, Villeroy & Boch of Germany, Sanitec of Finland and Keramik of Switzerland.
