BRITAIN'S CONTROVERSIAL gold sales trundle on with a third auction of 800,000 ounces due to hit the market today. The gold price has recovered somewhat since the initial sale in July sent the market into what seemed at the time to be freefall. Gold fixed in London on Friday at $296.85.
