British Gas loses 1,000 customers a day

More than 1,000 customers a day were switching from British Gas Trading to cheaper suppliers, the industry regulator said. Ofgas said 302,823 consumers had left BGT, equivalent to around 14 per cent of the company's 2.2 million customers. Domestic gas competition has been introduced in phases, with Devon, Somerset and Cornwall opening up last April.
