BT3 fraud alert issued

PRICE WATERHOUSE, the fraud auditor for the BT3 share offer, said enhanced systems and procedures were in place to detect multiple and other fraudulent applications in the current offering.

It has issued advice to share shops on how to prevent and detect suspicious cases of multiple registrations and applications. In reviewing suspected applications, it is working closely with special units from police forces.

Prosecutions over multiple applications in previous offers have resulted in sentences ranging from Community Service to two and a half years' imprisonment.
