THROUGH the post arrives a copy of a letter from the solicitors Peter Carter-Ruck to Michael Murrin, amateur sleuth and scourge of Owen Oyston, the socialist tycoon. Oyston is suing Murrin for libel, but the two men have not always been on such unfriendly terms. In the letter, Carter-Ruck is demanding repayment of a loan made to Murrin by Oyston in October 1991.
