LUCKY Shetlanders - and others who receive the first editions of London newspapers - will have seen a fascinating story in the Sunday Express about Grand Metropolitan last weekend: how the drinks giant is being sued by hundreds of publicans who accuse it of charging rip-off rents.
The more metropolitan Express readers will not have read the story, however. It was mysteriously spiked in later editions. The presses were stopped while a less controversial piece about British exports was inserted.
That George Bull, the blue- blooded chief executive ofGrand Met, sits alongside Lord Stevens on the board of United Newspapers, publisher of the Express, is entirely coincidental, I have no doubt.
