Raspberry of the week to a surly youth behind the counter at Birley's, the City sandwich bar. An overworked female colleague finally makes it out of the office to grab a sandwich at 1.30. On finding no club sandwiches left, she makes a helpful suggestion: 'They must be very popular, you often run out don't you? How about making a few more.' And the reply? 'Try getting here earlier, lady.' My suggestion to Birley's is to try getting a little less patronising to its customers.
