YORKSHIRE WATER seems to be marred by disastrous public relations. Last week, it apologised for telling customers that parts of the county were suffering from the driest period since August 1951 (it forgot about the summer of 1976.)
Meanwhile, the regional press is full of stories of disgruntled customers. The latest, Diane Washbourne, of Yeadon, West Yorkshire, complains of 'dirty, smelly, undrinkable water'. She moans: 'You have to chew it'.
All the more pressing, then, that a suitable candidate is found to fill the post of media relations manager. As yet the company hasn't had to advertise the vacancy; details of it were leaked to the local press - via an internal memo.
