FIVE DIRECTORS of Cadbury Schweppes were each paid more than pounds 1m in cash and shares last year as a result of the food and drinks group's lucrative long-term incentive plan.
The directors include Sir Dominic Cadbury (pictured), the chairman, who received pounds 1.54m, and chief executive John Sunderland, who pocketed pounds 1.56m. The payouts were triggered by an incentive scheme that is linked to the performance of Cadbury Schweppes' shares, which have doubled in value in the past two years. The news comes as a survey by Management Today shows that British chief executives are the best paid bosses in Europe, with an average annual salary of pounds 394,103.
