City & Business: Greyhounds off tax leash

THE Government has finally come up with a solution to the nagging rottweiler problem: give a tax incentive to own other breeds. Customs has decreed that greyhound food is to be VAT-free, just like the stuff you and I eat.

The VAT Tribunal has ordered that greyhounds should be given preferential treatment on the ground they are 'working animals'. And there is always the chance of them winning a race and paying for their own keep - which is more than you can say for rottweilers.
