AMONG the more esoteric leading economic indicators is the performance of shopfitters. Logic dictates that if shops feel business is picking up, they are more likely to invest in new displays.
Campbell and Armstrong's results for the three months to June (the group changed its year end) are due out tomorrow. They should show a return to profit for the shopfitter. Its last results, for the year to 31 March, showed a pre-tax loss of pounds 3.9m.
If the trends are to believed, the shares, at 131 2 p, look pretty cheap.
