KINGFISHER is hoping for better things from its B&Q operation in the second half of the year. The DIY stores suffered from a costly price-cutting war and promotional campaign in the first half, resulting in a drop in profits from pounds 46.4m to pounds 40.1m. Management changes, a more orderly market and the addition of 10 new large 'Depot' stores should see a better final six months.
