James Moore: Ocado can crow when the dividends flow
Outlook As if anyone needed evidence of the way the internet is gobbling up the high street, up popped Ocado with a 14.2 per cent rise in gross sales and an 11.4 per cent rise in orders over the Christmas.
And guess what? Everyone who ordered a turkey from Ocado got one, something the retailer was loudly gobbling about today. Well, good show chaps! Just one question? Isn't that what's supposed to happen? If it didn't, those elusive profits surely won't emerge, and Ocado's needs them to prove that it's a sustainable business.
This turkey will only be able to crow when they've been booked. And when dividends start to follow.
