Outlook Is the Financial Times for sale? Outgoing Pearson chief executive Dame Marjorie Scardino was always adamant that it was not and proved true to her word.

Incoming man John Fallon has this to say: "I very much recognise the FT as a very valuable and valued part of the company." That's not the same as "no", is it? In fact it sounds a bit like, "sure, for the right price..."

Pearson investors aren't sure if the ownership of the paper is a key part of the wider group's success or a millstone. Potential bidders might find now is a good time to test the resolve of the new man...
