IT HAS been brought to our attention that readers may have been misled by an inaccurate reference in last week's issue to recent proposals by Justice, the law reform pressure group, and its connections with the National House-Building Council (NHBC), the standard-setting and warranty organisation for new homes.
The Justice report did not criticise NHBC or its warranty protection on new homes. Its proposals referred to the building alterations and home improvements industry, in which the NHBC is not involved.
The Independent on Sunday also accepts that statements suggesting the NHBC's new home warranties were widely found to be worthless were without foundation.
