MICROSOFT, the world's richest software company, is rumoured to be considering launching a break-up bid for De La Rue, the British banknote and cash- handling systems maker. According to rumours, the software giant is interested in De La Rue's "smart card" activities, and would sell the rest of the business, which includes a stake in British lottery operator Camelot. A spokeswoman for De La Rue said yesterday: "We do not comment on market rumours."
