Denbies' fruity but dry

THE Denbies basic table wine at about pounds 3.99 was pleasantly grapey - fruity but dry and light, writes Mary Fagan. The Surrey Gold, which is on the medium side of dry, is fuller tasting, but again fruity and with a slight natural spritz. This is understandably one of their most popular wines at pounds 4.99. I was most impressed and surprised by a pinot noir rose, which I found dry and flavoursome with good fruit and length. At pounds 7.95, however, I would not buy it without considering what else I could get for the money.

As Commander Bond says, people are always impressed but whether they then buy the wines is another question.
