Germany's largest union plans to escalate warning strikes today as the next round of wage talks begins, amid heightened employer calls to include cost-cutting measures in any wage increase. IG Metall is demanding a 6 per cent wage hike for its 3.
5 million workers, and said the strikes that began last Monday will continue.
