GALEN Health Care and Columbia Hospital Corp plan to merge, creating the largest for-profits hospital chain in the US with a market value of dollars 4.1bn. The combined companies would have 99 hospitals with more than 22,000 beds and projected revenues of more than dollars 5bn a year.
