CHINESE retail sales soared to 84.7bn yuan (dollars 15.4bn) in July, up 15.2 per cent from the same month last year. Soaring temperatures boosted sales of drinks, fruit, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners, while Olympic fever led to the sale of 680,000 televisions - up 12.8 per cent on a year ago.
