Two former directors of MTM, the speciality chemicals company, will appear in court today in a case brought by the Serious Fraud Office.

Richard Lines, the founder and former chairman of the company, and Thomas Baxter, the former finance director, are charged with false accounting, conspiracy to commit false accounting or furnish false information, and making false or misleading statements under the Financial Services Act.

The case opens at Northallerton magistrates court, North Yorkshire.
