South West Water is expected to scrap three-year rolling contracts in favour of one-year in the wake of the Greenbury report. It is believed the scope for change was discussed at a board meeting yesterday with a view to an announcement at the annual meeting on Tuesday. The change of plan will put pressure on other utilities to opt for one-year contracts. Some electricity firms including London Electricity and Southern Electric had already said they would go down that route in anticipation of the report.
