SCOTTISH Hydroelectric has developed what it says is the first mobile transformer complete with circuit breakers, protection and control systems. Costing pounds 225,000, the lorry-mounted unit is designed to bypass damaged equipment while repairs are carried out in emergencies, and to minimise power cuts during planned work. Its first outing was on the Isle of Skye.
