RICHARD BREWSTER (pictured) has stepped down as chief executive of Jarvis Porter, to be replaced by Hugh Donaldson, after pressure from City institutions disappointed at the label-maker's faltering growth. Over the last seven years Mr Brewster has built Jarvis up into Europe's largest maker of labels for the necks of drinks bottles and health and beauty products. It also makes labels for electronic components.

Mr Donaldson was previously part of the demerger team at Zeneca and helped reorganise Spillers Petfoods before its sale to Dalgety. Yesterday Jarvis announced first-half profits falling to pounds 4.0m from pounds 7.0m a year earlier. The shares fell 9p to 101p.
