Applications to the DTI's Export Control Organisation for export licences fell for the seventh year running from 20,000 to 17,000 last year, according to the annual report yesterday. There were 4,820 applications for export licences to Iraq, Serbia, Montenegro, Libya, Haiti and Angola, all countries subject to UN sanctions. The year before the number was 5,699.
