Liffe, London's financial futures exchange, had its busiest month ever in February. It traded a record 18.04 million contracts, 53 per cent higher than the same month last year. Average daily turnover was a record pounds 210bn.The previous peak was 17.83 million in February 1994, during the bond market crash. Trading volumes in 1996 so far are 42 per cent ahead of last year.
