Business confidence among firms in financial services has strengthened for the 10th successive quarter, with banks and venture capitalists most optimistic. The latest survey by the CBI also says that sectors suffering the worst declines in confidence were building societies, general insurers, finance houses and fund managers. Total job numbers fell over the last three months for the first time since March 1994, and the biggest losers over the next quarter are expected to be life insurers and insurance brokers.
